This design is really a reflection of Elizabeth Blackwell’s illustrated volume ‘ A Curious Herbal’ 1737. It is a tribute to Australia’s long history of female botanical illustrators and celebrates my overgrown herb garden. I made illustrations of herbs and transferred them into a series of lino prints. I then arranged these original prints into pattern for the textile repeat.
